A Kosovo girl discovers her “Polish part”
The European Voluntary Service is a sponsored
international volunteering program for young people between 18 and 30. In 2006, more than 4500 volunteered in NGOs
throughout Europe with the so called EVS,
including some volunteers in and from the Balkan countries[1].
Albina Syla, 25, an ethnic Albanian girl from Kosovo, volunteered nine month long in Wroclaw, Poland, where she took care of physically and mentally ill people.
Looking back in the past, Albina Syla, 25, has already seen much from
the world. The young ethnic Albanian girl from Kosovo studied English at
university and has been working in a radio station for five years know. In
2006, she decided to go on a European Voluntary Service in
Not according to the clichés
With her short blond hair, blue eyes and many piercings, the young woman
does not look like the stereotype Western Europeans may have about people
coming from Kosovo. Albina’s odyssey to
For her friends, Albina’s decision to go abroad was quite curious. “I wanted to discover myself”, says the
young woman. Because of the difficulty for people coming from Kosovo to get a
visa, Albina decided to travel to
“I felt in love with that job”
Nine month long, Albina worked every day from 8 to 15 in a center called Ostoja, where physically and mentally ill adults would get a preparation to be able to take jobs, for example in fast food restaurants. Each day, Albina had to take care of a group of 5 people with diseases like hyperactivity, autism, schizophrenia or epilepsia. “It was really hard in the beginning”, remembers Albina. Now she knows how to deal with this kind of diseases. “I felt in love with that job. I was missing the radio but I was feeling good helping people”, she says.
Learning in tandem
When Albina first arrived in
“EVS gave me a lot of things,
things that made me braver”, she sums up, two years after she came back. She
even thinks about volunteering in a centre for mentally ill people in Kosovo to
use her specific knowledge from

Thats why Albanians will learn Serbian in school again, so they can learn easier Slavic...
And its better to speak Serbian when you live in Serbia (which includes Kosovo)
Albanians are good at learning languages, what i dont get is why Serbians who have been living in Kosovo are not able to say a word in albanian! Its a shame!
Good on this girl though, it always good to hear about such helping people.....theyr rare to find nowadays!
Jeff, I would suggest you first of all change your name to a real Serbian name to let everyone know you are a Serb to begin with.
Jeff, Albanian was very kind with you.
I will suggest you to f..off.
"With her short blond hair, blue eyes and many piercings, the young woman does not look like the stereotype Western Europeans may have about people coming from Kosovo."
Is this racist or what!
heyyy i know her she is the best , i knew she will be the one that she is today ...go on Albina ,tell the other what you are .You Are the one and the best.
For my opinion ,and with less words i can say ,that you are the one that you could do this job, how it should be ...well done :)
It is great that you Albina & (Albanians) are educating people. I found it interesting and the most effective information I have received. Keep up the awesome work,” It takes courage and self esteem to do what you do. I think more teenagers should be trained as you"
"Keep doing what you're doing Albina you're doing it right they are as much a human being as I am, because they are alive and all the good that we are able to do through it, is not just an expression.
As per Jeff learn tactics to prevent risky behaviors & to always think about the consequences, Of course, there will always be Serbs that look at negative side of things. And of course we learn Serbian Language we are not morons as Serbs??????
Albina you’re an Angel please use your areas resources and get as active as possible - One last thing Albina see you sun Sending smiles your way you ROCKKKKK
Albanians they really have their special skillz as this girl ....I just want to wish her a good luck ,and maybe she will realy go back where she want's .....Poland :-)))
Albanian are known as polyglots in the world. The most known Albanian scientits were able to communicate into different world languages. Fan Stilian Noli was able to speak more than 30 languages. So is she as Albina is ALBANIAN. Go on good girl!
Since im familiarized with such project, Albina did a great job in Poland!
I wonder to know, how many other country citizens came in Kosovo as Albina did in Poland!
Let me think a little:... hmmm, we have some of them but they usually worked for UN and with HIGH INCOMING $ in their Pockets!
And most of them didn't help out the ppl in need! they stayed in Office and where focused if the Kosovo Goverment & ppl are going to voto & accept the Law of Sexual Disorientation of Gays-homos!
They didn't take care of children like Albina did in Poland, their aim was to create a safe place for u Jeff, cuz without the law the Albanian ppl could kick your gay ass Jeff!
So before starting to screw up a good news like this with those stupid language brainwashed idea's, take a deep breath, hold for few seconds and count from 1-10 then from 10-1 and say I'm GLAD THAT ALBANIANS ARE MY NEIGHBORHOODs
Grow up a little, don't look to much TV cuz its bad for ur brain, take the new map that is created since 1999 when Kosovo was out from Serbia.
So, we where under Serbian regime and we survived and now we are helping other ppl who needs help.
WHAT ARE U DOING JEFF?!
let me think...
DOING GAY STUFFS!!!?
-------------------
Albina, go back again and share help again and again, cuz its needed. Mute others mouths with ur actions!
bushi's OUT!
je suis daccord!! :)
la vie change chaque seconde ouiiiii:)
parfois faut faire attention
et pourquoi ne pas refaire ca une fois encore
faut surtout respecter ses idees
seulement ceux qui vivent ca peuvent savoir combien c difficile
lavenir est prometteur dans ce domaine :)
c pas si difficile que ca non?!!
No to super,ze się podobało :)
